So what am I doing wrong here? If this were a copyright issue I would think it would bring up a different error but its as if its not seeing the game on my computer? After more searching I saw people saying to get Alcohol 120% which I now have and made a MDF/MSF file. I thought I was ready to play but when I click on the icon to start the game it says So I now have a exe shortcut on my desktop and in my start menu. I then was told to download Daemon Tools to mount a image I think which I did. Then saw that I needed to extract it with WinRAR which worked out fine and got one ISO file (3.94 GB).

When you come to a difference in code execution (in particular a different value in a returned function) you usually simply change "is" to "is not" so it runs without the disk, or simply overwrite the entire checking routine with no-operations (nop), or rig it so the successful check and the unsuccessful one launch the same code. Once with the cd inserted and once without. You simply launch the game twice or on two separate systems at once in a debugger. I would guess it would be possible to write the decrypted exe to disk.

It finds the key on the dvd/cd and decrypts it then launches it.

As far as i am aware securom is reasonably straightforward in this regard because it is a wrapper program around an encrypted exe.
